Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Product Innovation & Technical Leadership
Lead the design, testing, and improvement of new products, processes, and technologies within R&D.
Utilize the stage-gate process to effectively communicate with leadership.
Manage assigned R&D projects from start to finish, including objectives, milestones, and resource alignment.
Collaborate with leadership and shop teams to brainstorm, prototype, and validate new product concepts.
Apply DFM/DFA principles to ensure products are efficient, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
Hands-On Prototyping & Problem Solving
Work with shop personnel to build, test, and refine prototypes.
Troubleshoot and resolve design and fit issues using knowledge of welding, machining, and fabrication.
Use CAD, 3D printing, and manual tools to experiment and iterate.
Project Ownership & Cross-Functional Coordination
Act as primary point of contact for project deliverables.
Partner with Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing to align designs with customer needs and market trends.
Support Production during first-run builds.
Communicate project updates, risks, and results to leadership.
Process Development & Documentation
Create and maintain CAD drawings, BOMs, ECOs/ECNs, test reports, and SOPs.
Identify process improvements to accelerate product development.
Ensure compliance with engineering documentation standards.
Existing Product Support & Continuous Improvement
Review current products for cost, performance, and manufacturability improvements.
Troubleshoot product failures, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with Quality and Service teams to meet customer and market demands.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field.
5+ years of R&D, product design, or project leadership in an industrial equipment/machinery environment.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor ).
Strong knowledge of metal fabrication and GD&T standards.
Hands-on experience with fabrication tools and equipment.
Proven ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.

DFM/DFA and shop floor prototyping experience.
Basic electrical knowledge (circuits, wiring, motor controls).
Familiarity with PLC programming, HMI interfaces, and certification processes (NSF, UL).
