Job Skills/Requirements

  • Must have a current, valid Concealed Pistol License
  • If you do not have a Michigan CPL, we offer full reimbursement for the cost after 6 months of continuous employment as an Armed Security Officer in good standing with the company.

Scope

Armed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, tenants and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, and fires. Officers will work on a team to control access at entry/exit points and perform vehicle patrols. This role includes protecting one of the State's most critical infrastructures: our military bases.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Customer Relations - site relies on customer relations with clients, resident families, and residents.
  • Access Control - ensure only authorized individuals are allowed access.
  • Camera Monitoring - monitor CCTV for safety and security concerns.
  • Foot Patrol - interior and exterior patrols, noting security, safety, or maintenance issues.
  • Mobile Patrol - patrol parking lots, roads, building exteriors and remote locations in a security vehicle.
  • Monitor Fire Alarms - ensure fire alarms are working accurately.
  • Provide excellent customer service when dealing with Visitors, Staff, Executives, Co-Workers, etc.
  • Observe and report activities and incidents at assigned client locations.
  • Guard posts at building lobbies, gates, reception areas, control centers, etc.
  • Conduct periodic foot patrols of the assigned locations.
  • Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment and enforce site policies.
  • Check for employee and vendor identifications.
  • Look for suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and update operations managers on client communications.
  • Follow and enforce site-specific post guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must have a current, valid Concealed Pistol License or LEOSA certification.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening at hire and randomly thereafter (including marijuana) as required by federal law.
  • Must not have been convicted of any felonies.
  • Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, or related offenses.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk, including stairs, for 8-12 hours at a time.
  • Must be able to see clearly at least 20 feet away (glasses or contacts allowed).
  • Must be able to hear conversations in loud environments.
