UNM-Taos’ Health Sciences Department invites applicants to apply for Temporary Part time Faculty positions (Adjunct) to teach a lower division course in PBT 101- Phlebotomy Technician. This posting is for both face to face delivery of courses. These positions will be hired on an as needed basis dependent on student enrollment, course offering matrix, and graduation requirements.

Courses

  • PBT 101 – Phlebotomy Technician (8 credit hours; 8 lecture hours)
  • PBT 102L – Certified Phlebotomy Technician Clinical (4 credit hours; 4 lab hours)

This course prepares students for American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certified Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification. Successful completion of an apprenticeship at a clinical worksite is required. Meets New Mexico General Education Curriculum.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current New Mexico and/or National Phlebotomy
  • Completed 15 college credit hours in health science related courses

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate, Bachelor, or higher degree in health sciences or related field
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
  • Knowledge of education methods as well as current certification procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work with groups in a collaborative atmosphere
  • Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution, particularly community college experience
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
