Lab Processing Asst - Phlebotomy Lab Support – Mayo Clinic Healthcare London.

Responsibilities

  • Performs pre-analytic specimen processing, operates a variety of laboratory and office equipment, and enters information and test orders into the laboratory computer system.
  • Responds to a high volume of phone calls seeking laboratory testing information and ensures correct patient identification on specimens and documentation.
  • Resolves pre-analytic specimen-related issues and contributes as an integral part of the laboratory team providing support in patient testing.
  • May perform complex reagent preparation, manage work unit supply inventory, operate automated systems and provide training to others.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in a health or science field preferred.
  • Two years of work experience including clinical laboratory and/or other relevant experience.
  • Experience or knowledge of computers, keyboarding, telephone operations and office equipment; ability to read specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently as well as in a team; adaptable to scheduling changes, off-shifts, holidays and weekends.
  • Must be able to adhere to strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents and infectious agents.

  • Full Time
  • Hours/Pay Period: 80
  • Schedule Details: Saturday-Wednesday 6:00am - 2:30pm; Rotating Holidays; 3 off 3. Holidays alternated annually.
