Description
Job Summary:
The Material Handler/Backup Box Truck Driver performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. From time to time, this position will also be responsible for transporting goods around each facility utilizing a medium-sized box truck.
Duties/Responsibilities: Assists with or oversees loading and unloading of goods Delivers WIP (Work in Process) material to various departments to support the manufacturing process Examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify Completes paperwork or forms required for documentation Determines method of replenishment utilizing knowledge of procedures and routes Preparing materials from storage to assembly line Operates material handling equipment such as part carts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage Inspects the vehicle pre- and post-trip Required Skills/Abilities:
Oral and written communication skills Time management and organizational skills to keep track of inter-department deliveries and stay on schedule Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with other employees Attention to detail Ability to understand and follow directions Clerical skills Basic computer skills Ability to lift/move heavy objects Physical stamina Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED preferred Experience driving a company vehicle Performs work under minimal supervision Physical Requirements:
Ability to get up and sit down many times throughout the day Ability to lift to 50 pounds
