Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

Base pay range: $44,022.00/yr - $73,406.80/yr
Overview: The Assistant Sports Performance Coach (Strength and Conditioning Coach) is responsible for developing and administering sports performance programs for Georgetown University student-athletes. Under the guidance of the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Performance, the role designs, implements, evaluates, reports, collaborates, and educates across all aspects of the Sports Performance program to improve athletic performance and reduce injury risk. The Coach works with GU Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy staff to support athlete health and performance and assists with overall department health and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Create and organize a comprehensive Sports Performance program aligned with the goals of student-athletes, teams, and coaches.
- Implement programs to enhance performance and prevent injuries; monitor progress and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Instruct and coach proper technique in strength, speed, conditioning, agility, plyometrics, mobility, flexibility, and safety.
- Collaborate with student-athletes, coaches, sports administration, athletic training staff, and medical team to ensure health, wellness, and safety.
- Administer, evaluate, analyze, report, and educate on physical testing of student-athletes.
- Administer, evaluate, analyze, report, and educate on sports science data collection.
- Attend Sports Performance and Athletic Department meetings; adhere to GU policies, NCAA rules, NSCA/CSCCa guidelines.
- Assist in daily operations and supervision of the Thompson Athletic Center weight room.
- Develop, supervise, and evaluate internship programs; conduct educational sessions on performance, injury prevention, and well-being.
- Stay informed on latest advancements in sports performance.
Work Interactions: Reports to the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Performance; the Associate reports to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
- 2 years of strength and conditioning experience, preferably at NCAA Division I level.
- Current certification in one or both NCAA-preferred certifications (NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa-SCCC).
- Current First Aid/ CPR-AED certification.
- Preferred additional certifications (e.g., NASM, USAW, NSCA TSAC, ISSA, NCSF).
- Experience coaching weight lifting, speed, agility, plyometrics, and mobility with strong safety knowledge.
- Knowledge of Exercise Science, anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and psychology.
- Strong communication and organizational skills; proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with sports science data collection methods and NCAA rules.
- Familiar with Vald, Force Plate, Teambuildr, and Tendo Units.
Work Mode: On-Campus
Pay Range: $44,022.00 - $73,406.80. Compensation determined by qualifications, experience, education, skills, certifications, and university needs.
