Job Description

We have a solution for you the Utah National Guard has a civilian full time Journey Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Specialist opening. This job is at the journey level and will be responsible for:
1) Operates and maintains complex heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at Utah National Guard facilities, including Draper HQ and sites in the central part of the state.
2) Repair and maintenance of complex energy management systems that are mostly YAMAS/Utah Control and INET.
** This job is may require 24-hour availability on certain occasions.
** Some travel would be required
** Because of the nature of this position, the selected candidate will be subject to a successful background check reviewed by internal investigators.
** You are not required to be a member of the Utah National Guard. This is a civilian position at the Utah National Guard Armory.

Some of the other more specific major duties will include:
a) Preventative maintenance on the various systems.
b) Installing parts, equipment, lines, hardware or software, etc.; troubleshoots and makes adjustments to optimize initial performance.
c) Evacuate and recharge air conditioning systems.
d) Performing related plumbing, mechanical, painting and pipe fitting, etc., duties.
e) Welding, soldering, brazing, grinding, and/or fabricating various materials.
f) Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems and making appropriate adjustments.
g) Maintaining accurate records and logs.

Health Insurance - Public Employee Health Program (PEHP):
- 3 medical plan options. Choose a Traditional or High Deductible Health Plan. There is an Opt-Out Cash Benefit option for those who have other medical insurance coverage.
- 5 dental plan options, with an Opt-Out Cash Benefit option for those who have other dental insurance coverage.
- 2 vision plan options under EyeMed
- Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.
- Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System.
- Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
- Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
- Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.
- Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).
- Annual leave amounts increase with years of service.

Qualifications
In addition to the above mentioned skill and knowledge, we would like to fill this position with a candidate that possess the following:
- Working knowledge of YAMAS/Utah Control and INET.
- Heating and air conditioning equipment operation and maintenance.
- Installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment
- Welding methods and techniques
- Plumbing techniques and methodology
- Draw maps, plats, charts, plans, blueprints and/or electrical schematics
- Read and interpret maps, plats, charts, plans, blueprints and/or electrical schematics
Supplemental Information
- Some travel within the State of Utah maybe required.
- Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, etc.
- Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
- May be required to provide 24 hour on call services.
