Your Impact
Pearce Services/Unified Power is seeking a Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Field Engineer) for Greenville, SC and surrounding areas, with a commitment to excellence and a strong desire to learn and succeed. As a Critical Power Technician, you will directly support our customers in the onsite preventive, corrective, and restorative maintenance of their critical power systems (i.e., UPS, DC systems, inverters, PDUs, STS, and standalone reserve battery technologies). As a UPS Field Service Engineer for Unified Power, you will utilize a \'hit-the-ground-running\' and \'think-outside-the-box\' mentality to drive swift and superb solutions to address customers\' needs.
Core Responsibilities
- Install electrical equipment such as small rack-mounted UPS equipment, various-sized batteries, and UPS/Battery monitoring equipment.
- Maintain Battery Cabinets and racks, Maintenance Bypass, Battery Monitoring Equipment, DC Systems, and other electrical equipment.
- Perform remedial services, including failure analysis and troubleshooting, component replacements and repairs, and battery string replacements and installations.
- Build customer relationships – provide excellent customer service and upsell products.
- Field troubleshooting calls from customers to a satisfactory resolution.
- Respond quickly to critical situations.
- Teach and mentor crew members on proper techniques for site work, troubleshooting, repair, and analyzing site data.
- Isolate basic hardware, software, and interface malfunctions utilizing test equipment on multiple products and technologies.
- Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs.
Core Experience
- Prior military training in electronics or avionics (A School, AIT, etc.).
- Minimum of three (3) years serving in a third-party critical power field service or technical support role with demonstrated progression in technical proficiency and capability OR
- Minimum of five (5) years serving in an OEM service environment in the critical power space.
- Good understanding of AC/DC electrical principles.
- Knowledge of test equipment operation, such as multimeters and battery test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electronics schematics and troubleshoot to the component level.
- Experience enforcing compliance with FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations and standards.
- Outstanding work ethic, punctuality, trustworthiness, and reliability; you will set the pace as a senior UPS/Critical Power Engineer.
- Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
Physical/Work Environment
- Safety is a priority. Compliance with OSHA and applicable DOT standards is required.
- Must have a valid driver\'s license with an acceptable driving record (if driving a company vehicle) and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds for short durations.
- Ability to kneel or crouch periodically.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to travel for multiple days with per diem as projects require.
- Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously with high safety awareness.
- Lifting heavy objects and reaching overhead as needed.
