We are seeking a talented team member who will serve as a critical link between our customers and manufacturing capabilities. The Technical Sales Engineer role will be responsible for evaluations of new products, determining optimal manufacturing methods, accurately estimating costs with custom software systems, and collaborating with outside suppliers for specialized operations. The candidate applying for this position has a strong engineering background, can read and interpret drawings, has 3D modeling experience, understands manufacturing processes including casting and machining, and has excellent computer skills. They will have a strong work ethic, be highly organized, excel in a fast paced environment, be detail oriented and are motivated by producing high quality and efficient work.
D.W. Clark casts components utilizing centrifugal and static processes with both fixed and 3D printed tooling for aerospace, defense, and commercial applications. Cast metals include steels, stainless, nickel, cobalt, and specialty alloys. We are seeking a motivated Sales Engineer to be a part of a growing team, leveraging technology in casting advanced components.

Key Responsibilities
Quotation Development & Technical Analysis
Review and analyze customer RFQs (Requests for Quotation), drawings, specifications, and 3D models to understand technical requirements and assess manufacturability
Collaborate with customers to clarify technical details
Determine the optimal manufacturing methods and processes for various engineered components in collaboration with internal teams
Cost Estimation Configure materials, operations, outside costs, tooling and services utilizing estimation software based on identified manufacturing processes Work closely with production, purchasing, and quality teams, as well as outside suppliers to validate assumptions and refine estimates
Outside Operations Management Identify and source external vendors for specialized manufacturing processes (e.g., non-destructive testing, heat treating, surface finishing, specialized machining) not performed in-house. Obtain competitive quotations from approved suppliers for outside operations, ensuring quality and lead time requirements are met Manage and maintain relationships with key external partners
Proposal Generation & Presentation Prepare clear, professional, and comprehensive technical and commercial proposals/quotations for customers Articulate the value proposition of D.W. Clarks's manufacturing solutions to customers Participate in customer meetings, presentations, and technical discussions as needed
Continuous Improvement: Maintain detailed records of quotations, costing data, and customer feedback Contribute to the continuous improvement of quoting processes, cost models, and manufacturing methodologies Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and material advancements
Qualifications Experience in castings, foundry, metallurgy, machining, or metals manufacturing Proficiency in reading and interpreting 2D prints along with quality requirements, specifications, and customer documentation Experience in common CAD software packages, ability to model with CAD software accurately and efficiently Desire to continuously learn and seek improvement Strong attention to detail, tendency to thoroughly check details Ability to operate and make forward progress in ambiguous situations Highly organized Ability to diagnose and problem solve Strong communication skills across multiple levels, highly responsive Excel in a face-paced environment Knowledge of quality control systems Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgy, or Materials Science is preferred US Citizenship or qualified Permanent Residency is required due to government contracts
