Overview
The Purchasing department at Ingram Barge Company has an opening for a Warehouse Specialist based in Sauget, IL. We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable professional to join the team. The Warehouse Specialist will perform all warehouse duties and special assignments under the supervision of the Supply Chain Manager and ensure safe and efficient warehouse operations.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all Ingram and regulatory policies.
- Actively participate in pre-shift meetings and safety huddles.
- Complete equipment inspection checklists and present to the Warehouse Manager or designee for review.
- Keep work areas safe, clean and orderly.
- Review vessel traffic reports daily.
- Review and analyze vessel and terminal orders.
- Design a daily shipping strategy based on material to ship, locations, and other factors.
- Ensure all items are received into the warehouse from delivery vehicles in a safe manner.
- Review all received shipments for accuracy and identify discrepancies or damage, noting on delivery paperwork and reporting to the direct Manager.
- Put away received items into designated areas and consolidate items for shipment.
- Ensure all labels, placards, and shipping papers are properly prepared and attached to shipments or conveyed to the shipper.
- Handle hazardous and other regulated materials in accordance with Ingram and governmental regulations.
- Prepare items for shipping by packing securely, stretch wrapping, banding, etc.
- Load shipments with forklift or by hand as appropriate.
- Review returns, separating junk from items eligible for vendor credit and prepare items for credit pickup.
- Dispose of non-returnable items in accordance with Ingram and governmental regulations and report any unsafe conditions to management.
- Support department activities with regular and prompt attendance.
- Fulfill warehouse purchase orders and inventory pick requests; conduct inventory cycle counts and report results.
- Organize materials and supplies in logical and efficient staging areas.
- Manage special distribution needs as required.
- Maintain working knowledge of stocked products, active vessels, locations and vendors; keep warehouse clean and maintained.
- Work overtime and be available for after-hours and weekend shifts as needed.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and Skills: Understands and abides by all applicable Ingram and governmental regulations pertaining to associate safety and warehouse operation.
- Must be trained in safe forklift operation.
- Ability to effectively communicate with vendors and internal customers.
Additional Information
- All information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
- Must be able to walk up and down steep grades; lift and carry up to 75 lbs.; work in extreme weather conditions.
- Some travel may be required; weekend work and overtime are required as needed.
- Working and standing on concrete surfaces for extended periods.
- Pay: $21.00 per hour.
