Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing district-wide maintenance support with a focus on plumbing and HVAC. Essential Functions:
Installs, tests, repairs and operates all types of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing systems Inspects refrigeration equipment and makes repairs as needed Fires boilers and controls generation of continuous supply of hot water for school use. Observes boilers and auxiliary unites to detect malfunctions and perform repairs. Test and treat boiler water and cleans inside of boilers. Manipulates valves to control flow of hot water during marginal heating days. Inspects air handling units. Changes filters, motors and lubricates motors. Inspects, adjusts and repairs pneumatic controls Performs repairs to boilers such as section replacement, re-piping steam and hot water lines and other repairs Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings and pipes. Pressurizes pipe systems to check for leaks Repairs, maintains, replaces, installs and tests HVAC electrical systems, circuits and equipment in accordance with the National Electric Code, building codes and safety regulations Installs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, urinals, toilets, fountains, faucets, steam lines, water lines, piping and garbage disposal units Checks and calibrates refrigeration controls and thermostats to regulate flow of refrigerants to maintain required temperatures and desired degree of compression Tests swimming pool water and makes adjustments as needed Other duties as assigned
Skills, Experience and Education:
Minimum of two years of related commercial experience HVAC and/or plumbing certifications preferred Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems Must be able to run CAT 5 cable for camera systems, coax, new electrical wiring and conduit Schematic and blue print reading ability Application Instructions: Apply online or contact 724.214.3217
