Position Title: Middle School Paraeducator
I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:
A Paraeducator is responsible to the classroom teacher and his/her students as assigned by the administration.
II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
Recruited by: Building Principal - Student Services Director
Hourly Pay Rate: Per Classified Staff Pay Guide
Health Insurance: BC/BS HSA - 50% premium paid by district
Number of days employed: 180 per year
Sick Leave: none
Work Day: Varies by position
Pay Day: Bi-Weekly

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Principal and/or Student Services Director
Coordinates with: Principal, Student Services Director, Teachers, Staff, and Students
IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Minimum of a high school diploma
Desired: Experiences in working with people, patience, organizational skills, communication skills, and computer skills
Special Requirements of Position: Ability to receive and give directions from teachers to students; enjoy working with students academically and socially
Criminal Background Check: A criminal background check shall be conducted prior to hiring and at any time as deemed necessary once employed.
V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the teacher with classroom activities as assigned Lunchroom, library, computer lab, bus, crosswalk and recess duties as assigned Work with community volunteers If assigned to help some of the higher needs students, duties might include helping students with restroom needs, behavioral needs, and so on. Miscellaneous: copying, laminating, making games or activities, read stories, help set up and assist in small group activities, preparation for classroom activities Perform other related duties as assigned
