What You’ll Do
- Champion Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Follow established traffic patterns, avoid hazardous conditions, and immediately report unsafe ones.
- Operate Mobile Equipment Loaders. Load aggregates for processing, feed the plant, and safely load customers’ trucks with desired specification product within legal load limits. Use a loader to strip and prep the mining site and move material closer to the feeder for processing.
- Monitor Materials. Maintain an adequate feed of materials and stockpiles. Visually inspect materials for compliance with specifications.
- Perform Inspections and Maintenance. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurately complete daily mobile equipment reports. Observe the plant and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments. Assist with yard and plant housekeeping activities.
- Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings. Observe operations and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments to ensure safety.
Skills You’ll Need
- Experience. 2 years experience operating loaders and dozers in a plant environment preferred.
- Functional and Safety Knowledge. Solid knowledge of equipment capabilities and specs of finished materials. Ability to recognize products by sight and understand proper plant operation. Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations. Hazard recognition skills.
- Flexibility. Ability to work overtime and extended hours as needed. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate loud noises.
- Ready to Drive. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Interpersonal Skills. Good communication and teamwork skills. Respond to inquiries promptly and follow through to address issues.
