Overview
Summary: This job will begin immediately. Operates various power-driven machinery used to move dirt or other materials. May operate all or some of the following equipment: backhoe, bulldozer, crane, dragline, front-end loader, motor grader, cherry picker, dump truck, etc.
Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates production equipment in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specification, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Move hand and foot levers to control diesel, electric, gasoline or steam-powered operating equipment.
- Interprets hand signals to determine where materials are to be placed.
- May be required to manipulate equipment on unlevel working surfaces.
- May assist in lifting, positioning and securing materials and work pieces during installation.
- May be responsible for routine maintenance or repairs.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
- Performs other duties as required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Completes Crew Task Hazard Analysis (THA) logs daily.
- Recognizes hazards and danger zones.
- Plans and executes work with minimum supervision.
- Reads and interprets blueprints.
- Properly identifies soil types.
- Completes shallow and deep trenching excavations activities.
- Rough and fine grading with dozer.
- Safely loads and unloads materials.
- Drives water truck/off-road truck.
- Completes machine load charts.
- Operates long reach excavator and motor grader.
- Operates walk-behind roller compactor and plate compactor.
- Operates small construction equipment (front loader, mixer, forklift, and skid steer).
- Inspects and provides basic maintenance on equipment.
- Understands construction terminology.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an equipment operator.
- Prior experience with self-perform earthwork operations in commercial, civil, or marine environments.
- Ability to use laser level.
- Identify and use common construction materials, hand tools, and power/electrical tools.
- Understand construction terminology.
- Proven commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Must have reliable transportation to/from the job site.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling of material weighing 50 pounds.
- Ability to squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces.
- Minimum 18+ years of age.
- Proof of and Employment Authorization.
