ArcGIS Geospatial Architect & Governance Lead Location:

Austin, TX - Onsite

We are looking for a an ArcGIS Geospatial Architect to lead the enterprise geospatial strategy for a large public sector data organization. You will own the architecture, integration, and governance of ArcGIS platforms that power mapping, analytics, and reporting. Partner across analytics, engineering, and program teams to deliver secure, high-quality spatial data and decision-ready products that improve access to services and health outcomes.

Your role:

Architect, implement, and govern ArcGIS-based solutions that map client and provider locations and support enterprise analytics. Define target geospatial architectures, data models, workflows, and metadata standards; drive adoption across teams. Establish and enforce policies for geospatial data quality, stewardship, documentation, access, and retention. Coordinate with product owners, program leaders, and technical teams to capture requirements and align roadmaps. Integrate disparate demographic, socioeconomic, clinical, and program datasets; ensure accuracy, completeness, and security. Mentor GIS analysts and developers on spatial analysis, network modeling, geocoding, and web mapping best practices. Serve as the primary interface to IT for geospatial platforms; triage needs and guide prioritization. Lead advanced spatial analyses and network/access studies that inform policy and contract compliance monitoring. Deliver executive-ready dashboards, reports, and interactive web maps to communicate insights. Partner with data scientists to operationalize governance and quality controls within pipelines. Standardize processes for change control, release management, and environment configuration across ArcGIS components. Work onsite during standard business hours (Mon-Fri, 8-5) and support occasional evening/weekend work as needed. Adhere to security, privacy, and data-use agreements while facilitating effective data sharing. What you've got:

Bachelor's or master's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field. 7+ years in GIS, including 3+ years leading or architecting solutions in cloud environments within complex organizations. Expert fluency with Esri ArcGIS (e.g., ArcGIS Pro Advanced, geodatabase administration, Network Analyst), including geocoding, spatial analysis, and web mapping app development. 5+ years working with SQL Server enterprise geodatabases using ArcGIS tools to manage spatial data. 5+ years with Python and SQL, including writing functions, procedures, and automation scripts. 2+ years working in agile/scrum delivery environments. Proven experience building and running geospatial governance-policies, workflows, and decision-making forums. Deep understanding of data management principles, metadata standards, and quality assurance practices. Clear, concise communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence without authority. Ability to balance multiple initiatives, set priorities, and deliver independently. Familiarity with Medicaid, public health, or social services programs and datasets (preferred). Professional credentials such as Esri Enterprise System Design Professional, Esri ArcGIS Enterprise Administration Professional, or GISP (preferred). Experience applying machine learning or large language models to data extraction, cleaning, or documentation (preferred). Background in GeoAI for spatial modeling and prediction or using generative AI to enhance geospatial analytics platforms (preferred). Experience integrating ArcGIS with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses (preferred). Experience building custom web-based interfaces and tools (preferred).
