Job Summary and Qualifications

The CT/General Radiologic Technologist performs high-quality, comprehensive Computed Tomography (CT) and General Radiology exams. This role is central to patient safety and quality care, requiring the technologist to assess patients for contraindications, review orders and labs, and expertly administer contrast media via IVs and a power injector. The technologist operates advanced imaging and hospital systems (such as Meditech, Synapse, and GE Workstation), assists the radiologist, and prepares procedure trays using sterile technique. The position requires adherence to all safety protocols, particularly those related to the potential exposure to hazardous medications as defined by the facility's policy. Furthermore, the role involves promoting a collaborative environment and providing age-appropriate care based on demonstrated knowledge of human growth and development.

What You Will Do in This Role

  • Perform CT and General Radiology exams (including plain film x-rays) following protocols and ensuring high-quality, timely care. Interview patients, review charts and orders, and evaluate lab results for contraindications before contrast administration.
  • Initiate IVs for contrast administration, ensuring appropriate gauge and patency for the injection rate, and utilize the power injector. Prepare procedure trays using sterile technique and appropriate supplies.
  • Assist the radiologist as necessary, providing them with the patient's relevant history, signs, and symptoms for the exam.
  • Coordinate patient flow, manage the daily exam list, and complete correct documentation using required systems (e.g., Meditech, Synapse, Tele-Radiology, CD Burner, and GE Workstation).
  • Contribute to hospital quality (QI) and performance improvement (PI) plans.
  • Transport patients to and from the department as needed. Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care appropriate to the ages of patients served.
  • Promote teamwork and professionalism by communicating effectively with physicians, patients, and family members.
  • Support ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles and inform patients about procedures and answer their questions.
  • Handle daily upkeep, including cleaning and stocking departmental work areas.
  • Comply with all facility-endorsed risk mitigation strategies for handling hazardous medications.
  • Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and accreditations.

What Qualifications You Will Need

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.

  • Current ARRT certification with advanced registry, or registry eligible with advanced CT certification within 1 year of hire or within 6 months of eligibility.

  • 1 year post-graduate experience preferred.

  • BLS certification required.
