The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Hardware Design Engineer to join our Datastore team. You will be a key contributor to building Purefs innovative, high-performance, and energy-efficient storage solutions. In this role, you will take ownership of hardware designs from concept through production, playing a critical part in shaping the future of the data storage industry. You will contribute to all phases of the product lifecycle, from architecture to validation and sustaining engineering.
What Youll Do
- Lead Hardware Design: Plan, lead, implement, and debug SSD hardware designs from concept through production.
- Drive Interoperability & Debugging: Drive interoperability testing across server/storage systems and SSDs. You will diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues in collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and Joint Development Manufacturing (JDM) partners.
- Conduct Failure Analysis: Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations to support field issues and customer escalations.
- Enhance Processes: Apply your knowledge of major bus technologies like PCIe, DDR, and NAND to evaluate system-level trade-offs. You will also use automation and AI to improve SSD design and validation processes.
What You Bring
- Hardware Design Experience: Extensive experience in hardware design and development, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection.
- Debugging & Validation Skills: Proven experience in validating hardware at the electrical, signal integrity, protocol, and functional levels. You are also experienced with high-speed oscilloscopes and differential probes.
- Technical Acumen: Strong knowledge of major bus technologies, such as PCIe, DDR, NAND, SPI, and I2C.
- Automation: A strong background in using scripting languages, such as Python and BASH, to enhance design and validation processes.
We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara office in compliance with Pures policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations.
This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.

The annual base salary range is: $175,000 3b9 $263,000 USD
