Behavior Specialist

Behavior Specialist , you will play a crucial role in implementing a positive behavior support program aimed at enhancing student behaviors within our school. Your focus will be on proactive strategies and you will also respond to crisis situations by using de-escalation techniques and behavior intervention strategies. Responsibilities Include: Implementing individual, group, and system-wide interventions to promote positive outcomes in academics, social-emotional skills, behavior, and independence for students. Reinforcing positive behaviors and effectively redirecting negative behaviors while modeling strategies for staff. Maintaining accurate records related to student behavior strategies and behavior intervention plans. Collecting and analyzing behavioral data to monitor progress and contribute to instructional practices with IEP teams. Providing guidance to classroom staff on monitoring student behaviors and behavior management systems. Applying ABA principles under the direction of a board-certified behavior analyst to improve student outcomes. Conducting detailed observations for functional behavior assessments and developing individualized behavior intervention plans. Assisting teachers with instructional activities and supporting classroom management tasks. Providing crisis intervention by employing de-escalation techniques and ensuring safety during disruptions. Completing documentation of behavioral incidents while maintaining confidentiality. Adhering to safety precautions and emergency protocols, including CPR and First Aid. Participating in team meetings, clinical supervision, and professional development opportunities. Assisting in supervising students during school activities including field trips and lunch supervision. Traveling to multiple site locations for direct support as needed. Performing additional duties to promote program excellence. Qualifications Required: Associate's degree or higher in a closely related field of study. Active credential as a paraprofessional, paraeducator, or similar. Preference for individuals with a registered behavior technician (RBT) credential. Valid state driver's license or ability to obtain one. Ability to maintain certification in crisis management training. Experience working with children, especially in special education or behavioral health settings. Competence in working with individuals with severe learning disabilities and emotional disturbance. Familiarity with positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS) and behavior intervention plans (BIP) is highly preferred. Strong decision-making ability in emergency situations. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in technology and office software. ChanceLight Education
