Position Purpose:

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of K-6 Student Services, the School Social Worker will promote student mental health, social-emotional learning, and academic success. This role provides direct and indirect services to students and their families to remove barriers to learning and to help students reach their fullest potential within the school setting.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide direct social work services to students individually and in small groups. Design and implement prevention and intervention strategies for emotional, behavioral, or social challenges that affect student learning. Facilitate group sessions on topics such as self-regulation, social skills, communication, mindfulness, and coping strategies. Conduct assessments to determine student needs and develop intervention plans. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and families to support student development and well-being. Provide casework services to families, helping increase engagement and access to community resources. Serve as a liaison between the school and external agencies or mental health providers. Participate in student support teams (RTI/MTSS) and contribute to behavior intervention plans and functional behavior assessments. Maintain required documentation in compliance with state, federal, and district guidelines. Participate in ongoing professional development aligned with MDE requirements. Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)

from a CSWE-accredited program. Minimum 500-clock hour supervised school social work practicum

in a school setting. Valid Michigan licensure (LLMSW or LMSW)

through LARA. Eligibility for temporary or full

approval as a School Social Worker by MDE . At least one year of successful experience working with elementary-aged children. Knowledge of special education processes, autism supports, behavior plans, and trauma-informed practices. Strong skills in teamwork, communication, and working with diverse populations. Preferred Qualifications:

Prior school social work or social service experience. Experience with Functional Behavior Assessments and development of Positive Behavior Support Plans. Experience working with students with autism or in alternative educational settings. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
