Our KBFS Subsidiary is seeking a Part 135 Director of Operations for our operations at Temple Draughon-Miller Regional Airport in Temple, TX.

Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS) has an immediate need for a FAA Part 135 Director of Operations to oversee rotary wing charter flight (non-scheduled transport). Location of this position is Temple, Texas. The KBFS Part 135 Direction of Operations (DO) is responsible to the company General manager and the Temple Site Manager for flight operations conducted by KBFS employees under Part 135, including the training of assigned crewmember and maintenance personnel. The DO has the authority to act for KBFS in matters pertaining to approved flight operations and in coordinating the company's compliance and responses to the FAA San Antonio FSDO which has jurisdiction over KBFS flight activities.
Responsibilities: Develop, distribute and maintain the Company's General Operations Manual (GOM) and recommend additional policies and procedures as they relate to safety and maintenance of KBFS Part 135 aircraft and operations. Develop and maintain the Operations Specifications for Part 135 Operations and coordinates with the FAA for approval. Coordinate recommendations for the Safety Management System (SMS) with the Temple Site Manager, the KBFS General Manager, and the Corporate Safety Manager (CSM). Ensure KBFS flight operations comply with applicable FAR's, other federal and state requirements, the GOM, and other company policies and procedures. Develop standards for operational performance, personnel qualifications, and quality assurance and participate in aircrew member recruiting and selection process. Collaborate with the Director of Maintenance (DOM) to review all major aircraft repairs or modifications to KBFS owned, leased, or managed aircraft that are conformed and engaged in Part 135 operations; ensure coordination with FAA as required. Coordinate with DOM and Part 135 Chief Pilot to ensure maintenance and flight operations are fully coordinated and provide planning and execution support for training, ferry flights, and operational checks. Coordinate with DOM and Chief Pilot to forecast mission requirements, aircraft availability, scheduled services, off-site deployment support, aircraft inspections, and mission skills currency. Establish and adhere to flight operations reporting procedures IAW FAA mandated requirements and KBFS management. Ensure accurate and timely reports to all applicable government agencies. Serve as the KBFS agent/signatory for issuance and receipt of all Operations Specifications. Requirements:
High School degree or equivalent; BS Degree preferred. Must have 15 years' total aviation experience. Must have at least 3 years managerial experience in Part 135 operation. If a first time DO, must have a minimum of 3 years' experience within the past 6 years in Part 135 operations. With previous DO experience, must have 3 years of Pilot in Command time for Part 135. Must have a minimum of 2000 total flight hours (Mix of Rotary and Fixed Wing experience preferred). Must have a current or previous FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate (or higher) with Instrument Rating. Must have current Class 2 or higher FAA medical or able to renew the medical. Must have excellent verbal and written communications and management skills with record of working well with co-workers. Must have excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications (Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Must be able to prepare and articulate programs to the FAA, the company leadership, other government agencies, and commercial customers. Must have excellent liaison skills for coordinating company requirements with the FAA and other government agencies. Must have strong comprehension skills to quickly adapt and implement changes in a complex and dynamic civil aviation environment. Military pilot experience preferred. This position could be part time or full time depending on skills set of the applicant.
