MSBE Specialist

Patuxent River, MD.

The MBSE Specialist will support the adoption and implementation of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices within a project or organization transitioning from traditional document-based systems engineering. This role involves assisting in the development of system models, learning MBSE tools and methodologies, and contributing to the integration of MBSE into the project lifecycle. The MBSE Specialist will work closely with senior engineers and stakeholders to gain hands-on experience and build expertise in MBSE while contributing to the success of the transition effort. Essential Functions: Model Development Support: Create and maintain system models using MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler). Support the definition of system architecture, interfaces, and requirements within the system model. Learn to ensure traceability between requirements, design elements, and verification activities. Documentation and Process Support: Help document MBSE processes, standards, and guidelines as part of the transition effort. Export requirements from DOORS to Cameo Assist in preparing user guides, workflows, and training materials for team members. Contribute to the development of reports and presentations for stakeholders. Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with systems engineers, program managers, and other team members to support MBSE-related activities. Participate in team meetings, workshops, and technical reviews to gain exposure to MBSE implementation challenges and solutions. Provide support for stakeholder engagement activities, including gathering feedback and addressing questions. Learning and Development: Participate in training programs and self-directed learning to develop proficiency in MBSE tools and methodologies. Gain a working knowledge of SysML, UML, and other modeling languages. Shadow senior engineers to understand MBSE workflows, processes, and best practices. Growth and Contribution: Take on increasing responsibility for MBSE tasks as skills and experience develop. Contribute ideas and insights to improve MBSE processes and tools. Work toward becoming a key contributor to the MBSE transition effort. Requirements

Required:

Academic project experience, internships, or exposure to systems engineering concepts is preferred. Familiarity with MBSE concepts, SysML, or modeling tools (e.g., Cameo, MagicDraw, MATLAB/Simulink) is a plus. A basic understanding of MBSE frameworks Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tools and methodologies. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Basic understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes. Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Desired:

Familiarity with any MBSE tools or modeling languages (e.g., SysML, UML) through coursework, internships, or self-study. Exposure to requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama) or configuration management tools. Interest in pursuing MBSE certifications (e.g., INCOSE ASEP) as part of professional development.

Security Clearance:

Active Secret clearance required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
