InterDent Service Corporation provides comprehensive dental support and administrative services to over 165 dental practices, employing more than 400 dentists across various states. These practices, including the Gentle Dental and Blue Oak Dental brands, are dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered dental care. Additionally, InterDent operates Capitol Dental Care (CDC), a capitated, value-based care program in Oregon. CDC collaborates with coordinated care organizations to provide dental services under the Oregon Health Plan, focusing on preventive care and improving both oral and systemic health for children and low-income patients since 1994.
Position Summary
The Vice President of Dental Clinical Operations (VP, Clinical Ops) is essential in promoting operational excellence and enhancing clinical performance across InterDent's supported practices. This executive role is responsible for implementing clinical best practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, engaging providers, and collaborating with operations and support teams to improve patient outcomes and practice efficiency. We are seeking a leader with strategic insight, exceptional leadership skills, and extensive knowledge of the dental clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Strategy
Provide strategic vision and guidance to clinical teams across all regions and specialties.
Lead initiatives to standardize and enhance clinical protocols, treatment planning, and patient care practices.
Collaborate with senior leadership to formulate and execute growth and performance initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.
Assist in site selection, design, and clinical ramp-up for new and acquired practices.
Operational Management
Work closely with regional operations leaders to monitor trends, patient access metrics, and provider productivity.
Drive continuous improvement in clinical operations, such as scheduling optimization, patient flow, and chair utilization.
Ensure synergy between clinical and operational priorities to deliver a seamless experience for both patients and providers.
Leadership Development
Mentor and manage a team of Regional Clinical Directors (RCDs) and Director of Hygiene, ensuring strong clinical oversight in the field.
Offer coaching and development opportunities for RCDs to enhance their leadership abilities and clinical impact.
Collaborate with RCDs and Director of Hygiene to assess clinical needs across regions and implement consistent standards of care and performance expectations.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including OSHA, HIPAA, and dental board standards.
Oversee clinical audits, chart reviews, and risk management initiatives.
Guide the implementation of clinical technology, EHR systems, and infection control practices.
Qualifications:
DDS/DMD degree and active dental license (or eligibility for licensure in supported states).
Minimum of 10 years in clinical practice; 5+ years in a leadership role within a DSO or healthcare system.
Proven experience managing clinical teams across multiple locations.
Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and scale a team of field-based clinical leaders.
Strong understanding of DSO operations, payer environments (PPO/Medicaid), and practice management systems.
Ability to analyze performance metrics and create actionable strategies for improvement.
Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
Willingness to travel up to 40%.
