Inventory Volunteer - Schools Outreach Program
Job Carr Cabin Museum, Tacoma, Washington, us, 98417
Inventory social science kits for elementary schools in the South Sound.
Job Carr Cabin Museum needs volunteer help with inventory of our traveling trunks for schools. We currently have 19 traveling trunks. Each kit reaches approximately 200 students per year, helping children learn about the Oregon Trail and local history.
The inventory volunteer will review the traveling trunk contents when they return from each school, replacing missing and broken items. The inventory process ensures that the next school using the materials will have all contents included and in good repair. The inventory volunteer must be detail-oriented and organized. This volunteer is needed 3-5 days per month, September through June. Scheduling is flexible.
The museum’s schools outreach program supplements social studies education for students across the South Puget Sound region. Our traveling trunks deliver high quality learning resources directly to elementary classrooms in Tacoma, Pierce County and beyond. Complete with replica artifacts and lesson plans, the traveling trunks benefit students with hands-on learning and receive rave reviews from classroom teachers.
This position is critical to the success of the Museum’s schools outreach program.
All volunteers must complete a volunteer application form and successfully pass a security background check. http://www.jobcarrmuseum.org
