Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Solid Waste Engineer with at least 10 years of experience to join our solid waste engineering practice in Boca Raton, Orlando, or Tampa, FL offices. You will apply your engineering expertise to projects involving landfills, ash monofills, transfer stations, surface impoundments, geologic and hydrogeologic investigations, solid waste planning, and other solid waste management systems, while developing project and contract opportunities with clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration and mentoring are core to Geosyntec’s culture. You will work on challenging technical projects, leveraging your knowledge to help expand our practices through business development, marketing, and client management. Responsibilities include program and project management, staff development, and mentoring of early and mid-career professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client development and expansion of solid waste engineering capabilities in Florida.
- Leading proposal development and business activities targeting private and municipal clients.
- Design of landfills, civil infrastructure, stormwater systems, utilities, and roadways.
- Performing analyses such as slope stability, settlement, hydrologic modeling, landfill gas, and seepage.
- Preparing design calculations, drawings, specifications, bid documents, and permits.
- Coordinating field investigations, design, and construction management.
- Understanding relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Occasional fieldwork and travel may be required.
- Flexible location within Florida, with a preference for Boca Raton, Orlando, or Tampa.
- Travel between offices and regional collaboration expected.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering (required).
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Florida P.E. license (required).
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years (15+ preferred) of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Proven project and program management experience in solid waste.
- Knowledge of Florida solid waste regulations and permitting.
- Experience in client development, marketing, and proposal writing.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Leadership experience in engineering groups or technical organizations (preferred).
- Experience with modeling/design tools such as AutoCAD Civil3D, HELP, Slide2, Settle3, Slope/W, Vadose/W, Sigma/W, and ARCGIS (preferred).
- Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training (preferred).
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record required.
