Job Summary And Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the coordination of all clerical and facilities functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the Direct Supervision of the VP of Emergency Services and/or Clinical Nurse Manager, and in accordance with established CMC and departmental policies and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions:
- Coordinates and ensures that all clerical functions are completed with accuracy.
- Delegates tasks as appropriate.
- Greets visitors to the department, ascertains purpose of visit and refers them to appropriate patient room or department staff member to provide services, ensuring that good customer service is a priority.
- Answers telephone, screens and responds to or refers appropriate staff member to provide prompt professional service.
- Maintains order of all patient records.
- Maintains all log books and/or EMR Records.
- Organizes and maintains filing system of all necessary hospital forms, ensuring they are up to date.
- Coordinates and maintains all statistical data according to department needs.
- Transcribes provider orders and inputs orders into computer system.
- Coordinates the ordering and/or return of supplies.
- Promotes and practices cost effective use of resources.
- Collaboratively works with multidisciplinary team in the coordination of patient care services.
- Coordinates the orientation of department coordinators and the clerical orientation of nursing staff.
- Acts as the primary department preceptor/resource for clerical.
- Attends organizational meetings as directed. Relays essential information to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
- Ensures confidentiality of patient and all organizational matters according to CMC policies.
- Revises unit-based forms.
- Communicates unit-based process changes to staff.
- Completes audits and/or reports as assigned.
- Meets with the Clinical Nurse Managers to determine orientation, education needs of staff on all shifts; makes telephone calls to off-duty staff when census is high and/or during short staffing situations.
- Works with the leadership team to identify and implement change in areas in need of process improvement.
- Distributes incoming mail on a daily basis to appropriate personnel.
- Attends staff meetings to gain a greater knowledge of current events and changes taking place on unit.
- Assists in transporting/obtaining medications, specimens, blood products, patient care supplies as needed.
- Maintains filing system for all forms and records.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned or directed.
What qualifications you will need:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s Degree or Certificate in related healthcare field preferred.
Experience:
- Previous experience in the health care field preferred.
- Medical terminology essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office required.
