per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is
$115,200-TTC to $178,500-TTC
. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

The position is related to the implementation and support of plant automation, systems integration, and data acquisition systems for Specialty Grains and Powders Business.
The Automation Engineer is responsible for:
The design, implementation, and testing of I4.0 projects. Specifically deploying Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), system integration solutions and Digital Quality Management Systems (QMS), in accord with the specifications given by ceramics and Specialty Grains & Powders
The physical automation projects (Robot, Cobot, PLC, automated lines) and lines instrumentation
The design and support of any specific module supporting business activity (production & operations, supply chain, in process and customer quality)
The modelling and machine learning projects (AI based)
Each project must be following 3 different phases: Needs definition, Design/Build, and Installation/Startup. The Automation Engineer will interface with process experts to identify and solve safety, quality, delivery, and cost problems through Saint-Gobain's operation excellence system (WCM). The Automation Engineer will design and build complete electromechanical systems and may also utilize automation integrators to complete projects strictly following the guidance in Ceramics and Specialty Grains and Powders.
This person will be an integral part of the OPEX team and focus on business operations and process improvement in all the plants in the scope
This role is based in Amherst (NY) with frequent travels in US and occasionally EU sites. 30%-50% travel required.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Control Engineering required.
A minimum of 5-10 years of previous experience with process optimization with strong data analysis & problem solving skills required
MES project execution experience (requirements analysis, design definition, software development and solutions implementation) under Ignition preferred
Experience with ERP interfacing preferred
Experience with Ignition, Python or programming languages is a strong plus
Strong organizational and project management skills required
Strong interpersonal skills required
