Job Description

Job Title: Application Engineer

Date: July 2025

Summary

The Application Engineer provides pre-sales technical expertise and quoting support to the sales team, channel partners, and customers. This role ensures the best product fit for each application, balancing cost, performance, and manufacturability. As a key technical liaison, the Application Engineer works closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and customer service to deliver timely and accurate proposals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Review customer specifications, drawings, and requirements to recommend appropriate product solutions.
2. Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and formal quotations.
3. Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure proposals are feasible and aligned with internal capabilities.
4. Provide technical support to reps, sales, and end customers throughout the sales process.
5. Ensure all proposals are accurately documented in the CRM system and aligned with American Fans standards.
6. Maintain a high level of product and application knowledge.
7. Support continuous improvement by identifying product gaps, market trends, and customer feedback.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

1. Bachelors or Associates degree in Engineering or related field.
2. 2+ years applications experience including selection and costing, preferably in the fan, rotating equipment, or related technical industry.
3. Ability to organize and manage multiple projects with precision and professionalism.
4. Strong technical writing and communication skills.
5. Familiarity with ERP/CRM systems.
6. High moral and ethical standards, demonstrating respect for individuals and teams, and setting an example for compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate requirements.
7. Strong work ethic and goal-oriented mindset.
8. Proven ability to quickly assess complex issues and identify root causes/key success factors.
9. Decision-making skills, including knowledge of various decision-making styles and appropriate escalation channels.
10. Effective communication skills with diverse cultures, including interactions with associates, suppliers, and customers in various business functions.
11. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
12. Experience in the air movement industry or a related technical field.
13. Experience working in a matrix organization using influence and indirect leadership to achieve objectives.
14. Background in supporting field sales teams and working with a sales rep network.
