Hybrid – Metro Detroit, MI (must be within a commutable distance) Type:

Contract | Full-time | 40 hours/week

Pay Rate: $45 -$52 hourly

This is a long-term contract. Possible extension or direct hire. Benefits Available.

About the Role We are seeking an experienced

Sr. Project Estimator

to support construction and infrastructure projects. In this role, you will partner with project management teams to develop, monitor, and update cost estimates and integrated project plans to ensure projects are executed efficiently. This is an individual contributor role with a high level of autonomy, requiring strong analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, monitor, and update project estimates for various construction projects.

Prepare Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM), budgetary, unit pricing, and detailed (definitive) estimates.

Review design documents and scope packages for completeness.

Validate contractor and engineering estimates; review bids for scope accuracy and optimal pricing.

Analyze costs, perform risk analysis, benchmarking, value engineering, constructability reviews, and claim analysis.

Review and validate change orders for scope and cost accuracy.

Cost-load project schedules by Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).

Capture lessons learned and participate in process improvements for the estimating organization.

Collaborate in a team or matrixed structure and adapt to shifting priorities.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED with 10+ years of relevant experience;

or

Associate’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field with 8+ years of experience;

or

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field with 6+ years of experience.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

4+ years of estimating experience on large construction projects (Gas, Renewables, Pipelines, Solar, Batteries ).

Experience in estimating all project costs (engineering, design, construction, commissioning, etc.).

Familiarity with On-Screen Takeoff or similar estimating software is a plus.

Other Requirements

Ability to occasionally travel to project sites and perform contractor walkdowns.

Comfortable working in a power plant environment (e.g., climbing stairs, hot/confined spaces).

Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively present project results and recommendations.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to assess key issues and recommend optimal solutions.

Knowledge of financial and economic analysis, project management, and risk management practices.
