Overview

American Welding & Gas has an immediate opening for a Service Technician & Backup Delivery Driver at our facility in Appleton, WI.

Service Technician Duties

• Mechanical background with some electrical wiring background is preferred.
• Ensure appropriate preparation and/or completion and accuracy of paperwork including but not limited to delivery tickets.
• Work at heights of 20 to 30 feet.
• Capable of performing duties alone at times.
• Current driver’s license is required to drive company equipment to the job site.

Service Technician Requirements

• Hearing, sight, and smell.
• Ability to work according to the demands of the job, which include being on call, physical exertion, stress, working in all types of weather, and dexterity.
• Must occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Must occasionally lift 100 lbs. from floor to waist.
• Frequently required to stand and to walk while pushing / pulling up to 100 lbs.
• Occasionally required to squat, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Occasionally shoveling snow and digging trenches.

Driver Duties

• Read, understand, and follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Comply with all DOT + OSHA Regulations.
• Move, load, and unload empty/full cylinders safely and efficiently.
• Ensure appropriate preparation and/or completion and accuracy of paperwork including but not limited to shipping papers and delivery tickets.
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicle.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Driver Requirements

• Lifting, bending, twisting, climbing, crouching, kneeling.
• Repetitive movement.
• Operating motorized equipment.
• Sitting; standing; walking.
• Working indoor/outdoor as business needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Safety oriented.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Clean driving record.
• Class B CDL Required with Hazmat and Tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain both endorsements.
• A team player who takes ownership, creates solutions, and drives for results to get the job done in a safe and efficient manner.
• Able to move compressed gas and liquid cylinders; lift 50-75 pounds frequently and maneuver 100+ pound cylinders (rolling, using a cart, etc.).
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, Back Assessment and company administered road test.
• Excellent communicator who expresses consistency in words and actions, communicates directly and honestly.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong customer relation skills.
• Pleasant, professional, and courteous personality.
• Goal oriented and self-motivated.
• GED/Diploma.
• Industrial painting.
