ADVANCED HEART FAILURE PHYSICIAN SCIENTIST OPENING -MEDICAL COLLEGE OF WISCONSIN

The Comprehensive Heart Failure and Transplant Program of Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking an Advanced Heart Failure, fellowship-trained physician to join our faculty. This is a rapidly growing and highly dynamic program offering advanced heart failure services at the only academic Medical Center in Southeast Wisconsin. The program is comprised of 6 board-certified, advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologists, 4 highly experienced cardiac transplant surgeons, 6 advanced heart failure nurse practitioners, a robust multidisciplinary team and active Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship Program.

The program will perform over 25 cardiac transplants this year. In addition, there is a research program with active projects in heart failure, mechanical circulatory assist devices, cardiac transplantation, heart failure related device therapy and health economics that span both the medical and surgical aspects of advanced heart failure care.

Patient Care:

Clinical activities will be primarily focused on clinic and hospital coverage at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI (largest hospital in the state). 25% clinical effort.

Research, Teaching, and Scholarly Activities:

Opportunities for teaching and research exist with dedicated 75% research and academic time

Administration/Service:

The candidate will be expected to participate actively in multi-disciplinary conferences organized by the Division.

Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease Board Certified/Eligible Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology UNOS Cardiac Transplant Qualified Ideally, >/= 3 years post AHFTC Fellowship training highly desirable Clinical experience with all aspects of AHF care including transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, right cardiac catheterization, endomyocardial biopsy, cardioMEMS implantation Recent experience with more than 25 cardiac transplants over the past three years Experience in the management of cardiogenic shock, use of ECMO, Swan Ganz catheterization insertion and management, experience in management of patients in the critical care setting.
