Chief Cybersecurity Engineer

Caterpillar Inc seeks an experienced Chief Cybersecurity Engineer to embed cybersecurity at the core of business solutions. Responsibilities include designing risk management plans, proposing security architecture, implementing security tools, and providing technical guidance for IT systems, factory technologies, and end-user solutions globally. This role collaborates with infrastructure, development, and business teams to address IT risks and safeguard critical assets, working closely with executive leadership to establish security frameworks and support innovation.

What You Will Do:

The Chief Cybersecurity Engineer will identify technology and cybersecurity solutions to manage risk and support resilient systems. Tasks involve evaluating technology options, making recommendations for the enterprise cybersecurity program, and providing solution engineering expertise to business partners. The role directs global security programs across various portfolios and projects.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing security reference architectures and engineering roadmaps considering threats, risk tolerance, and business objectives.
  2. Recommending proactive security solutions to mitigate threats and maintain a secure environment.
  3. Demonstrating technical expertise, effective communication, and collaboration skills to build enterprise-wide partnerships.
  4. Translating complex concepts into practical plans and guiding technical teams in their implementation.
  5. Guiding security investment decisions by evaluating threats and vulnerabilities affecting critical assets.
  6. Monitoring and assessing emerging global threats through risk assessments and analysis to enhance resilience.
  7. Collaborating with product and platform teams to integrate security-by-design principles into development cycles.
  8. Leading solution engineering for AI and digital transformation of legacy systems, technologies, and processes.
  9. Defining and maintaining secure architecture for enterprise services, addressing data protection, compliance, and operational resilience.
  10. Leading architecture and engineering of network security for cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure, including remote connectivity.
  11. Developing strategies to secure internal and external network communications, considering scalability and reliability.
  12. Possessing strong technical knowledge of AI/ML concepts, frameworks, and development processes.
  13. Conducting threat modeling for complex AI systems.
  14. Exhibiting advanced expertise in software architecture, application development, and disciplines like cloud, AI, or mobile technologies.

What You Have:

  • Experience in security engineering and designing solutions aligned with standards like ISO27001, IEC 62443, NIST CSF.
  • Proven 7+ years in enterprise IT architecture, cybersecurity architecture, or related leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of cyber threat intelligence practices and IT infrastructure domains impacted by cyber threats.
  • Ability to analyze complex threat scenarios and translate them into technical and business risks.
  • Experience deploying workloads on Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior team members technically.
  • Proficiency in security threats, attack vectors, vulnerabilities, and exploits.
  • Deep understanding of NIST frameworks, cloud security, and compliance standards (PCI, GDPR, SOX).
  • Knowledge of modern technology stacks, including cloud platforms, APIs, and microservices.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, secure coding, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Current industry certifications such as CISSP or CISM.

Education / Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or related field.

Salary Range: $156,000 - $234,000. Compensation varies based on multiple factors.
