Job Overview: LPL’s Security Architecture & Engineering team is seeking a seasoned professional to support and advance our Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program. The Senior DLP Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data protection solutions to safeguard sensitive financial and customer information. This role involves close collaboration with IT teams and business stakeholders to identify risks, enforce data handling policies, and ensure regulatory alignment.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in data security, a strong understanding of technology’s best practices, and a creative approach to identifying gaps in data integrity and protection. This individual will play a role in helping shape the future of data security at LPL and must be comfortable working across technical and project management domains.
Responsibilities
- Develop, configure, and maintain DLP policies across endpoints, email, cloud, and network environments.
- Align DLP controls with business needs and regulatory requirements (e.g., GLBA, SOX, PCI-DSS).
- Integrate DLP solutions with SIEM, CASB, endpoint protection, and other platforms.
- Analyze data protection risks in both persistent and transit layers; design sustainable mitigation strategies.
- Tune DLP rules to reduce false positives and manage exceptions.
- Partner with data owners, legal, compliance, and business units to understand data flows and protection needs.
- Document complex process flows and communicate technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Evaluate existing DLP coverage and identify gaps across systems and third-party services.
- Stay current with emerging threats, technologies, and regulatory changes; recommend updates to DLP strategy.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data security, risk management, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise DLP tools (e.g., Symantec, Forcepoint, MS Purview, Netskope)
- 5+ years of working knowledge of cyber security projects and programs and managing requirements and testing on the projects.
- 5+ years of experience collaborating with technical team members, business analysts, and project/program managers to ensure a quality solution is delivered.
- 4+ years of experience with scripting tools (Curl, Python, Glue, PowerShell)
Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience with Regular Expression creation, tuning and utilization
- Experience with software including Jira, Confluence, Microsoft O365
- Working knowledge of terminology, function and fundamental capabilities of common computer, software, information and communication technology devices, components, and concepts
- Strong knowledge of IT networking and infrastructure
Pay Range
$97,725-$162,875/year
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
