Position overview:
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory's Shipping and Receiving Department is seeking a Shipper/Receiver. This position is responsible for performing a variety of shipping and receiving duties and provide services that are responsive to customer needs in accordance with established compliance requirements and practices.
Your specific responsibilities include:
Prepare a wide variety of sizes and types of items for domestic and international shipping, including proper labeling and customs declarations.
Prepare and package items using methods and material most appropriate to the item being shipped; determine shipping costs and select freight carriers.
Receive deliveries from off-site vendors.
Inspect deliveries to ensure item(s) and quantities are correct and in accordance with the packing list/freight bill. Check received items for visible damage; record each delivery.
Electronically capture/scan all in-bound.
Deliver in-bound shipments/materials to customers on SLAC¿s site and offsite.
Operate a forklift, delivery trucks, and other mechanical devices for the movement/delivery of shipments/material.
May deliver received items or forward to delivery service
Prepare, distribute and file appropriate shipping documents
Apply initiative in scheduling work and selecting procedures to assure proper handling of priority and other special cases and to optimize work flow.
Assist in other areas of the Shipping/Receiving operations, when necessary.
Perform all duties in accordance with DOE and SLAC Environmental Safety & Health (ES&H) guidelines as applicable to receiving operations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

To be successful in this position you will bring:
High School equivalency and 1 years of delivery or other related work experience.
Ability to wrap packages for shipping according to established procedures.
Must be able to understand and follow administrative and operational procedures.

Must be able to learn operation of forklift, delivery trucks and other mechanical devices.
Knowledge of the regulations and methods for domestic and international shipping of materials.
Demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.
Proficient with Palm Pilot operations or similar device operations.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
Functional familiarity with PeopleSoft (eProcurement) strongly desired.
Certifications and Licenses:
Must possess and maintain a valid California Non-commercial C Class driver's license.
Ability to obtain and maintain necessary certification to operate Power Industrial Vehicles

This position is represented by SEIU Local 2007 and the collective bargaining agreement between the university and SEIU Local 2007 governs the terms and conditions of employment.
The expected pay range for this position is $34.34 (Step 1) - $41.53 (Step 10) per hour. Placement in the range is subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Unit. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
