Job Description Colonial Behavioral Health provides opportunities for recovery to individuals and their family members in the areas of mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities. Colonial Behavioral Health serves the citizens of James City County, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, and York County.

Colonial Behavioral Health is seeking a Clinical Manager to provide clinical leadership, coordination, oversight, and administrative management of 23-hour Crisis Stabilization. 23-hour Crisis Stabilization provides short-term assessment, observation, and crisis intervention for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis and require a safe environment for initial assessment and intervention. The position will also provide coverage to other services across the crisis continuum when needed.

In 2026, Colonial Behavioral Health will be opening the Center for Support and Wellness, a brand-new facility that will place all crisis services to include Emergency Services, Peer Support Services, Mobile Crisis Response, and Community Crisis Stabilization in one location. Future services will include a 23-hour Crisis Stabilization unit and Residential Crisis Stabilization unit. This position will allow you to be a part of the continued development and design of the brand-new facility as a part of the crisis leadership team.

Job Duties

Provides managerial and team leadership - coaching, training and assistance to other clinicians in service provision of Crisis Services. Provides Crisis Services - assessment of acute crisis problems, risks, functioning and mental status; pre-admission screening; triage; and counseling supports. Develop and coordinate interventions to ensure treatment delivery in the least restrictive setting within the standards of care. Completes quality improvement reviews and quality assurance activities. Provides clinical supervision, licensure supervision, and evaluation of staff performance. Represents agency in stakeholders, Region 5 and on Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services workgroups and committees. Provides oversight of delivered services for regulatory compliance, reimbursement, and quality improvement. Develop department work schedule. Provides on-call consultation and coverage as needed. Prepare service utilization reports and provide status updates. Other duties as assigned or required. Work Schedule Hours may vary but may include overnights, evenings and weekend coverage.

Qualifications (EEO)

Knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders Possess knowledge of crisis intervention models and theories, and resources available to help individuals with serious emotional and developmental disabilities, including individuals with co-occurring disorders Knowledge of law enforcement and the criminal justice system, including a basic understanding of the issues confronting law enforcement and Crisis services Effective networking and collaboration with multiple jurisdictions and community partners Ability to provide clinical and licensure supervision Effective time management skills, ability to multi-task and maintain appropriate records Ability to learn new concepts quickly and effectively relay these new concepts to others At least 3 years of clinical and management experience in mental health, substance use disorders and crisis intervention
