The Spa Lead Therapist will oversee a team of service providers, ensuring exceptional spa services while also providing high-quality treatments. This role involves training and mentoring junior staff and actively shaping the spa’s treatment offerings to enhance the overall guest experience.
Role & Responsibilities
Service Delivery:
Provide a range of therapeutic services, including massages, body treatments, and specialized techniques at a luxury level, ensuring every guest receives an exceptional experience.
Customize treatments based on individual client needs and preferences.
Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor a team of massage therapists and estheticians, fostering collaboration and growth within the team. Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and ensure continuous learning. Monitor inventory for supplies and back bar, communicate restocking needs, maintain clean, well-stocked treatment rooms and support areas.
Guest Experience: Ensure guests receive a warm welcome and personalized care throughout their spa visit, with clear communication about treatments. Gather guest feedback and implement improvements to elevate their experience. Operations Management: Assist with scheduling and coordinating therapist appointments to ensure optimal coverage and service delivery efficiency. Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall spa operations. Drive sales goals: retail product sales, upgrades, memberships, etc. Educate guests on enhancements and product lines.
Treatment Development: Stay informed about industry trends and integrate new modalities and techniques into our service offerings. Contribute to the development of spa treatment menus and promotional packages. Participate in creating and updating new spa treatments, specials, or promotional offerings. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and safe environment for guests and staff. Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing constructive feedback and recognizing exceptional service. Assist in conducting performance reviews and setting goals for team members. Must hold a valid
Texas State massage therapist license
(dual‑license preferred). 3+ years of experience working in a spa environment; experience in high‑end / luxury spas is a plus. Demonstrated leadership ability, including training/coaching staff, giving feedback, scheduling or supervising. Strong knowledge and proficiency in multiple modalities: massage techniques (deep tissue, Swedish, etc.), facials, waxing, body treatments, etc. Excellent guest service and interpersonal skills; ability to anticipate guest needs, work well under pressure. Sales aptitude: ability to recommend upgrades, retail, and build guest loyalty / repeat visits. Flexible availability: weekends required, holidays. May need to lead or cover shifts outside standard hours. Clean, professional appearance and strong adherence to spa protocols, cleanliness, sanitation, etc. Good verbal and written communication skills
