Job Description:
Using discretion and independent judgment Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineers are responsible for creation of NCS Documents, which comply with 10 CFR 830, DOE Standards, and UCOR procedures. Develop and maintain NCS documents. Interface with management and operations to resolve nuclear and criticality safety issues. Daily to weekly written and verbal communication with operations, engineering staff, UCOR management, and DOE staff.
Principal job duties include:
- Development, revision, and peer review of Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) documentation such as Criticality Safety Evaluations (CSEs), Nuclear Criticality Safety Determinations (NCSDs), and various other NCS technical basis documentation.
- Development and documentation of SCALE criticality calculations.
- Completion of required NCS annual Operational Reviews, as needed.
- Daily nuclear facility support, as needed, consisting of facility walkdowns, review of NCS requirements implementing documents, participation at facility Operational Safety Boards, etc.
- Documents and Requirements – Prepare, review, and verify implementation of Nuclear Safety Basis, DSA, TSR, and Nuclear Criticality Safety documents and requirements. - Support UCOR in performance of routine and ad-hoc reviews, assessments, and oversight walk-downs of Nuclear Criticality Safety program adequacy, Implementation and Compliance verification/oversight activities.
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree from an ABET accredited program and 4+ years of Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) experience.
8 years of work experience with at least 4 years in Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS)
Must be able to provide evidence of NCS Engineer qualifications.
Experience with SCALE criticality code is strongly desired.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance.
Must be a US .
