Job Overview:
The Wafer Production Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining diamond wire saw (DWS) machines, including basic repairs, cleaning, and troubleshooting. The role requires quick problem-solving to maintain production efficiency, with complex issues escalated to the Engineer or Shift Supervisor. Safety and quality are top priorities, and the technician must follow all protocols to uphold these standards. Schedule: Training: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM up to 2 months Official Schedule: 12 hour shifts on a 2-2-3 rotation (6:00AM-6:30PM or 6:00PM-6:30AM) Pay:
$22.50/hr + $1.00 (Night Shift differential)
Key Responsibilities:
Perform shift-based work as required. Manage material input and replacement to ensure uninterrupted operation. Maintain machine cleanliness using hoses, air guns, IPA, rags, vacuums, etc. Respond to machine alarms promptly. Monitor equipment settings, escalating deviations when needed. Identify and address defect spikes in a timely manner. Replace, repair, or adjust machine parts per production specifications. Apply adhesives, lubricants, or materials as needed for proper function. Operating DWS Machines:
Pre-slicing:
Verify brick status, lot information, and wire length. Inspect for wire jumps, doubles, and coolant flow issues.
During slicing:
Troubleshoot wire breakage, jumps, doubles, or bowing.
Post-slicing & Unloading:
Confirm beam cuts and check for wire issues before brick exits. Clean cutting room, inspect equipment, replace coolant and filters, and log production data. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve production issues. Ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures. Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of safety standards. Experience with manufacturing tools and equipment. Ability to work with fine tungsten wire, requiring hand-eye coordination. Basic understanding of solar or semiconductor manufacturing. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Team player with strong communication skills. Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends. Comfortable in a non-climate-controlled environment. Problem-solving skills with attention to details Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications: Mechanical or electrical licenses preferred. Experience:
Operating and managing automation equipment. Familiarity with solar or semiconductor manufacturing. Minimum 2 years of industry experience.
