The Retirement Services Specialist Senior position plays a critical role in performing professional retirement services which includes providing the most highly complex information and counseling both via telephone and personal contact with members and public employee participants of the Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS), the Minnesota Deferred Compensation Plan (MNDCP), the Health Care Savings Plan (HCSP), and Supplemental Retirement Plan Hennepin County (SRHC), while at the same time, promoting a positive, professional image of the agency by providing the highest level of customer service. The incumbent will also perform routine and complex MSRS retirement estimates and specialized MNDCP related tasks.
Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of professional experience administering financial or retirement benefits to customers which includes customer coaching, legal interpretation, and guidance on plans and policies.
**A Master's degree in business or related field can substitute for 18 months of experience, OR a related Bachelor's degree can substitute for 1 year of experience, OR a related Associate's degree can substitute for 6 months of experience.
Years of experience and education must demonstrate the following:
Mathematical skills sufficient to produce and audit complex calculations, and to provide analysis on complex computation errors
Ability to interpret and translate laws, rules, regulations, and policies
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of data and information in accordance with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act
Advanced verbal and written communication sufficient to give individual and group presentations, counsel participants and beneficiaries on retirement issues over the phone, in person, or in writing, and to prepare comprehensive reports and documents.
Possess, or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire, FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses
Possess, or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire, Minnesota Life, Accident and Health insurance licenses
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
Knowledge of Social Security, group insurance, and state and federal income tax as they related to refund, retirement, disability, and survivor benefits
Experience working for a public pension fund or private financial services institution
Possess FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses, Minnesota Life, Accident, and Health insurance licenses
