Summary:

Join the Transition PACU (P4B) team at MD Anderson Cancer Center as a Per Diem Clinical Nurse. This is a rewarding opportunity to care for post-anesthesia patients in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Ideal Candidate:

Minimum of 4 years of recent PACU or ICU nursing experience

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

Calm and effective under pressure, especially in emergency situations

Skilled communicator with patients, families, and care teams

Actively pursues professional development and excellence in care

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver safe, high-quality care to patients recovering from anesthesia in the PACU and Non-OR Recovery areas

Provide accurate documentation and effective discharge teaching

Serve as a clinical resource and liaison for families

Maintain ACLS certification; obtain PALS within 6 months of hire

Adhere to ASPAN standards and institutional protocols to ensure patient safety

Respond confidently to emergencies such as malignant hyperthermia and cardiac/respiratory events

Participate in shared governance, unit projects, and evidence-based initiatives

Education

Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Experience

Required: One year of relevant clinical nursing experience

Preferred: 4+ years of ICU or PACU clinical nursing experience

Licensure/Certification

Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
