Base pay range

$60,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr

Position: Customer Service Accountant
Location: College Park, GA
Compensation: $60,000 – $65,000 annually

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Customer Service Accountant to support the Finance Director and oversee the financial functions of the Customer Service Division. The Customer Service Accountant will be responsible for billing, account reconciliations, budgeting, internal auditing, and financial record keeping. This role requires independent judgment, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage complex financial operations with accuracy and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities Of a Customer Service Accountant

  • Serve as a liaison between the Customer Service Division, Information Technology, and Accounting to address utility billing software programming and integration issues.
  • Evaluate subsidiary ledgers for accuracy, make corrections in the utility billing system, and ensure compliance with budgetary limits.
  • Prepare, maintain, and reconcile databases and financial information for reporting and analysis.
  • Monitor revenue and expenditure activity and provide accurate monthly and annual utility billing receivable and revenue reports.
  • Provide financial and procedural guidance to City staff, vendors, and the public.
  • Support management with special financial analysis projects and proposals.
  • Produce daily general ledger upload reports, weekly budget performance reports, and statistical reports for leadership, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with department budget preparation, administration, and monitoring.
  • Administer payroll for the Customer Service Department and manage delinquent account reporting.
  • Act as technical lead on Customer Service Department projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.
  • Provide backup support for Billing and Customer Service office staff as needed.
  • Implement programs to minimize financial losses and improve workflow efficiency.

Qualifications Of a Customer Service Accountant

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and database navigation.
  • Experience with computerized CIS and AIS systems; familiarity with AMI utility systems preferred.
