Optimal CAE
Position Description:
Overview OEM Client in Vehicle Propulsion Systems Engineering (VPSE) Calibration team is seeking experienced calibration engineers with direct, hands-on backgrounds in developing and delivering drivability, emissions, and OBD calibrations for internal combustion and hybrid powertrains.
This is a hands-on engineering role, not entry-level, and not supervisory/management focused. Candidates should be able to independently deliver production-ready calibrations that meet program requirements.
Job Responsibilities: Develop, test, and deliver production-ready calibrations for drivability, emissions, and OBD attributes on IC and hybrid powertrains. Perform in-vehicle and lab testing, collect and analyze calibration data, and resolve issues. Support testing at domestic proving grounds (Dearborn, MI, Northern MI, Arizona, Colorado). Document and present calibration results to program stakeholders. Ensure compliance with regulatory, performance, safety, and quality standards. Skills Required:
Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable) 2+ years (preferred 5+) direct, hands-on engine or hybrid calibration experience (drivability, emissions, or OBD). Strong proficiency in calibration tools and data analysis (e.g., ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, MATLAB/Simulink). Proven experience conducting on-road and test-cell calibration work (not only simulation or HIL). Skills Preferred:
Hybrid/electrified powertrain calibration experience. Knowledge of EPA/CARB/OBD regulatory certification processes. Experience with functional safety, fuel economy, and diagnostics calibration. Familiarity with issue resolution across vehicle test sites (hot, cold, altitude). Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree Additional Information:
Position is hybrid, a minimum of 4 days a week onsite.
