Job Summary
The Junior Buyer plays a vital role in the supply chain by supporting daily purchasing activities. This includes sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, ingredients, and packaging needed for production.
To be successful in this role,
previous experience in the food industry is required , as you will work closely with production and quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with strict food safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and MRO supplies. Communicate with suppliers to track orders, confirm delivery schedules, and expedite shipments when needed. Collaborate with production teams to monitor inventory, prevent shortages, and reduce excess stock. Assist in identifying new suppliers, obtaining quotes, and performing cost analysis to ensure competitive pricing. Partner with the Quality Assurance team to verify all procured materials meet strict safety and regulatory standards (FDA, USDA, Organic, Non-GMO). Help resolve discrepancies related to shipments, quality issues, or invoices in a timely manner. Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier details, and pricing data in the ERP system. Qualifications & Skills
1-2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within the food and beverage manufacturing industry (Required). Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for building strong supplier relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and other MS Office tools. Basic understanding of supply chain principles and purchasing best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred (relevant work experience considered in lieu).
Preferred Qualifications:
ERP/MRP system experience (SAP, NetSuite, Sage, etc.). Familiarity with food safety and quality documentation (Certificates of Analysis, spec sheets). Work Environment
Primarily office-based, with occasional visits to warehouse and production areas (PPE required).
