Work Schedule: Second Shift, 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM CST

Overview

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Courtland, AL. This team produces the next generation missiles, harnesses and chassis for Targets, Hypersonic and Mars vehicles. The role supports the Thermal Protection System Application, electro/mech structure assembly, integration and test operations. The position may require travel and support to other manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical team daily to meet engineering requirements, schedule and cost commitments; provide production status to leadership.
  • Write detailed manufacturing work instructions, technical publications or SOPs.
  • Assist in leading and adhering to safety, quality, cost, schedule, technical and programmatic requirements and performance expectations.
  • Lead and provide shop floor support, maintain manufacturing plans, tooling requirements, engineering change implementation and coordinate changes in the build process within an electrical/mechanical manufacturing facility.
  • Manage the day-to-day Missile Assembly Integration and Test areas of Manufacturing.
  • Create procedures and operations for fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions; incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Communicate with inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters and provide solutions to technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Travel to other sites as needed to support manufacturing.

Basic Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing experience through internship, work experience, or coursework.
  • Experience collaborating with a multi-functional team through coursework, work experience, or similar.
  • Ability to work second shift supporting a 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM shift CST.
  • Must be a US Citizen; must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.

Desired Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Proven production in flow troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic tooling, fixture and equipment design experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Additive Manufacturing CAD/CAM and 3D Printing.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Experience presenting to senior government and/or leaders.
  • Familiarity with industry system equivalent processes (Earn Value Management Systems, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Work Instructions, Routings, Production Orders, Bill of Materials, Qnotes, FFMEAs, FOE/FOD, etc.).
  • Familiarity with industry systems equivalent tools (ERP/SAP, EPDM, VECAMS, PMP Database, etc.).
  • Lean Manufacturing experience and/or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certifications.
  • Experience with Electro Static Discharge (ESD) and Ordnance Missile Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) operations.
  • Proven Leadership and Management of Aerospace and Manufacturing products.
  • Proven communication skills between Program, Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Experience writing detailed manufacturing work instructions, technical writing or similar experience with technical publications or SOPs.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings, bills of materials, schematics and specs.

Security and Work Arrangements

Security Clearance Information: This position requires a government security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required for consideration. Clearance: Secret. Onsite full-time work at a Lockheed Martin facility. Telework classification: Employee will work on-site full-time.

Shift: Second

Work Schedule Information: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternative work schedules. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five-day work week to condensed schedules. Condensed schedules provide additional time away from the office and are in addition to Paid Time Off benefits.

Typical Work Schedule: 4x10 hour days, 3 days off per week.
