Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots problems encountered with briquetting and sizing processes, equipment and operations
- System expert for set-up, operation and repair of all press machines
- Evaluating existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement
- Assist in layouts for integration of new products & equipment into existing plant areas
- Assist in product launch; optimization of product design for manufacturing and tooling
- Evaluate manufacturing processes to generate cost reduction opportunities
- Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and products align with safety standards and legal regulations
- Assist in set-up, testing, validation and running of new equipment
- Actively support any downtime as it pertains to quality issues through troubleshooting and problem solving using different problem-solving applications like 8D, 6 Sigma, etc.
- Develops/updates the required documents like process sheets, control plans, FMEA’s, job instructions, etc.
- Responsible for all process documentation
- Ongoing support of equipment after full time production to include modifications for efficiency, capability and continuous improvement; any issues that pertain to safety issues through troubleshooting and problem solving
- Supports all shifts for manufacturing during the week and weekends, if necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial preferred
- 5+ years related work experience in Powdered Metal manufacturing
- Experience in the automotive industry or in global manufacturing company
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated evidence of manufacturing process implementation and improvements
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and a high energy level
Management Systems
- Responsibilities: Ensure that the established EnMS is implemented, maintained, and continually improved
- Implement action plans to continually improve energy performance
- Review the energy policy and determine how it is relevant and how it fits the purpose
- Modify the energy policy to include a commitment to continual improvement of the EnMS
- Provide the EnMS Policy to interested parties; along with the review and approval of the EnMS Policy
Authorities
- Authorities to carry out responsibilities as set out in the ISO 50001 EnMS Standard and BorgWarner Livonia’s requirements
- Delegate responsibilities and authorities within the EnMS, including the implementation of action plans
- Provide resources as needed to carry out those responsibilities
- Determine and prioritize energy projects and improvements
- Make changes to the EnMS such as improvements needed, implement corrective and preventive actions, address relevant issues as they arise
- Turn off workstation A/C, fans, heaters, press turn tables, lights, radios, etc. when not in use
- Report all energy related issues/concerns (e.g. air leaks) as they are discovered
