Job Description:
PURPOSE OF JOB: Performs and serves as a resource for decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of all basic and specialized complex instrumentation, and troubleshoots equipment or product failure. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Consistently ensures that instrument sets are complete prior to sterilization, record all missing items that are not replaced in instrument sets.
2. Demonstrates understanding of basic principles of all types of sterilization methods and operates/maintains sterilizers according to the manufacturer recommendations.
3. Displays complete knowledge in identifying surgical instrumentation.
4. Reviews documentations, sterilization test results, and equipment monitors and records for accuracy.
5. Keep Dept. Manager informed of problems or issues with staff, customers, or vendors in a timely manner.
6. Ensure staff follow cleaning procedures per manufacture's instructions.

a. Educate staff on new technology, instruments, or procedures in the SP department.
b. Able to teach and assist in the training of SP Associates
c. Coordinate the orientation of new employees in consultation with the Dept Manager
d. Mentors and trains peers to achieve departmental goals
e. Participates in training and orientation of SP Technicians
Job Qualifications:
V. QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma; IAHCSMM/CBSPD Certification Experience: Two years of experience in a Sterile Processing Department with one year in a lead or charge role preferred. Other Skills: . Experience with inventory control, tracking systems, purchasing, and use of computers, decontamination, and sterilization systems.
