SCHOOL COUNSELOR - High School
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the school. Essential Responsibilities:
Strong writing skills as well as communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively Maintain a good rapport with all constituencies; students, parents, and colleagues Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills and leadership qualities MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must be eligible or hold
State of Delaware Certification as a School Counselor Master's degree preferred; School Counseling; Certified School Counselor or experience as a school-based mental health provider A
minimum of 2 yrs. counseling experience , school counseling experience is strongly preferred Experience with and commitment to working with high school-aged children in Grades 9-12, including an understanding of their developmental, social, and academic needs Proficient in Technology, Microsoft Office Applications, Children's Educational Software, etc. Demonstrates sensitivity to diversity issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups Shows evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in promoting student learning to increase student achievement Regular attendance is an essential function of the position A shared understanding of the mission of the School and a demonstrated commitment to the core principles of equity, inclusion, and access Standard Requirements:
Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment Tuberculin Test Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
