System Professional Development Specialist - RN - OR
to join our dynamic team. In this high-impact role, you will serve as a clinical expert and educator, designing and delivering innovative learning experiences that elevate nursing practice and improve patient outcomes across our healthcare system. This role is primarily located at our Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, but will have a secondary site of Southdale Hospital in Edina.
Job Summary
:
The System Professional Development Specialist Nursing - RN (PDS) is a high-level clinical expert in nursing who identifies learning educational needs, develops curricula, and delivers quality education to nursing and healthcare personnel with measurable patient outcomes. The PDS improves the professional practice and role competence of nurses and other healthcare personnel by facilitating ongoing learning, change, and role competence and development to improve population health through indirect care.
The PDS contributes to the overall success of the organization through leadership in the workforce strategies and patient care, service to patients and families, and working with others in the PDS role.
Job Expectations:
Learning facilitator
Uses the educational design process and adult learning principles to bridge the knowledge, skills, and/or practice gaps identified through learning needs assessment and evaluation of outcomes, including the development of initial and ongoing competency validation processes.
Acquires and analyzes data from multiple sources to guide design of competencies and education to close identified gaps.
Change agent
Actively works to transform processes at micro, meso, and/or macro system levels.
The PDS uses change management strategies and theories to drive desired outcomes.
Uses evidence-based strategies for communicating, educating and facilitating changes in clinician practice and team behaviors.
Advances the profession by contributing to the professional development of others and supporting ongoing professional learning as individuals develop across practice, professional, and educational settings.
Supports the clinical and professional development of staff and colleagues through role modeling; may serve as a preceptor and mentor.
Influences and advocates for interprofessional practice and learning environments, the education specialty, the profession of nursing, and healthcare.
Performs and communicates system level assessments to identify variables that influence nursing competency, training, and outcomes.
Assists in assessments and designs plans to meet regulatory requirements related to nursing practice.
Champion for inquiry
Promotes a spirit of inquiry, the generation and dissemination of new knowledge, and the use of evidence to advance clinical education, guide clinical practice, and improve the quality of care for the patient, family, and/or community (the health care consumer/partner).
Leverages the organization's evidenced-based practice model to identify the highest quality evidence and implement best practices to improve outcomes
Advocate for Nursing Specialty
Actively supports, promotes, and demonstrates nursing professional development within a nursing practice specialty, including the promotion of nursing certification.
Promotes the organizational professional governance model for the advancement and autonomy of nursing practice excellence.
Partner for practice transitions
Supports the transition of nurses and allied nursing staff across practice and learning environments, roles, and professional stages.
Employs consultative leadership skills to develop individualized learning plans
Supports and partners with nursing practice professionals, nursing operations, and other stakeholders with the shared goal of achieving the organization's mission and vision.
Provides skillful consultation and facilitation skills in working with staff, leaders, and others, that impact processes and outcomes of patient care
Required
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Experience
3 or more years of nursing experience
Experience in teaching, coaching, precepting, or training
License/Certification/Registration
Current MN RN License
BLS certification
Preferred
Education
Master's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field
Experience
1 or more years education experience
License/Certification/Registration
Recognized ANCC certification in Nursing Specialty aligned to your area of practice

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.
