JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing transportation services for the frail elderly or brain injured participants from their homes to the center and for medical appointments. Provides transportation for field trips as part of the activities program or day treatments. Delivers in-home meals and provides delivery and pick-up of supplies and medications for participants. The driver must maintain clean vehicles, and perform vehicle checks regularly for safety. Promotes professional working relationships with both internal and external customers. This position is non-supervisory in nature. Adheres to and supports all organizational policies and procedures and standards. Promotes teamwork!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Organizational (Core Rating Factors):
Ensure discretion with confidential information. Maintains courteous, helpful and professional behavior on the job. Will support the success of the entire team by promoting a collaborative work environment. Adheres to all PACE of West Baltimore Policies and Procedures, PACE of West Baltimore Safety Policies and Procedures and OSHA safety guidelines. Consistently contributes to problem-solving and cooperates with identified resolutions. Must demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality. Brings issues and process improvement ideas to the attention of the Supervisor. Maintains verbal and written skills required for the position. Attends meetings and participates in committees as required. Completes annual trainings as required. Adheres to Company Dress Code Policy. Demonstrates appropriate level of time management in support of co-workers and the entire team. Departmental (Job Specific Tasks):
Must maintain calm and have professional demeanor at all times. Must remain patient and maintain good customer service when working with dispatcher, supervisors or customers either internal or external. Drives vehicles in a safe and responsible manner utilizing defensive driving skills and follow assigned routes. This includes smooth breaking, and acceleration, taking bumps or curves at a reasonable speed, etc. Loads and unloads participants in and out of vehicles safely, following correct Policies and Procedures. Escort's participants safely from the bus thru door and back on to the bus utilizing all safety training, safety equipment and skills. Ensures the proper securing of the participants inside the vehicle and while unloading using the proper safety equipment. Notifies Dispatcher if running late on a pick up or route. Notifies Dispatcher of all cancels and reason why. Transport's participants to scheduled appointments as arranged by the dispatcher. Delivers in-home meals, supplies and medications to participants as arranged by dispatcher. Assists participants in their home environment or other locations with tasks when necessary (i.e.: put on socks, shoes, jackets, toileting, etc.). Maintains clean vehicle, by regularly sweeping floors, cleaning glass cleaning interior and exterior. Maintains a safe vehicle by ensuring all aspects of the vehicle are in top working condition, reporting any noted issues immediately to Dispatcher, Coordinator or Manager. Works with Transportation Manager or Coordinator to schedule maintenance or repairs of vehicles. Notifies dispatcher of any participant transportation needs, noted participant concerns, or issues observed in the participants houses. Must be available to work all Transportation operational hours which may include overtime, on-call and weekends. Maintains the confidentiality of all company information, procedures, and participant, client or family information regardless of setting. Maintains safe working environment. Follows PACE of West Baltimore Safety Policies and Procedures. Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings. Maintains professional affiliations and any required certifications. Additional responsibilities will be added at managers discretion, as career growth opportunities and responsibilities are constantly arising in our flexible and start-up environment. QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED is required. Equivalent experience in lieu of education will be accepted. Must have 1 year of experience with the frail, elderly or disabled population. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and criminal background check. Must have a current Driver's License and driving record must be in compliance with Company policy. Must maintain current automobile insurance. Must have and maintain a driving record which is in compliance with Company Policy. Must be knowledgeable in computer applications including email and navigating the internet. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, vendors, medical staff, and the public. Must be free of communicable diseases that can be readily transmitted in the workplace and have all immunizations up to date before providing direct care. TB test is required within first 7 days of employment. Hep B and Influenza (during flu season) vaccinations are offered but not required. Capable of and experienced in transporting individuals with special mobility needs. Knowledge of principles, practices, standards and techniques of position including how to use and maintain equipment (vehicle, lift, tie-downs). Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision. Operates in full compliance with all applicable federal, state and local fire, health, safety, sanitation, Emergency procedures and other Standards prescribed in law or regulations.
