Job Summary

In this role, you will supervise and direct operators with good leadership skills and the ability to assist the Production Shift Supervisor in the daily scheduling, operation and evaluation of production staff assigned to their work group. Coordinates and assists in all materials, production, quality and documentation of raw materials and finished parts with Supervisors, Material Handlers, and Production Engineering. Assists the Supervisor in training, coaching and performance evaluations. Assists as needed in the Supervisor’s absence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists and directs the activities and resources of the daily production assigned to the work group including interviewing, work assignments, break scheduling and relief, and shipping and packing label generation.
  • Establish team objectives and measurements for production, calculates and compares production results with daily production reports, and enters results in ERP system.
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure a variety of production necessities such as documentation, labeling, packaging, part quality, equipment control(s) are set and functioning correctly, and line purges are completed for changes in production and/or customer specification. Coordinates with the other Production Leads and Shift Supervisors on all production and personnel matters as needed to meet work objectives.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe work environment. Identify and resolve potential safety hazards.
  • Lead continuous process improvement efforts to reduce scrap, cycle times, improve efficiency, and eliminate wastes within the production environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable punctual and predictable attendance.
  • Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur as well as getting to and from offices and building sites.
  • If specifically necessitated by customer requirements, must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences for product and safety issues.
  • Hearing ability should be sufficient to hear and react to audible alarms from distances up to 150 feet.

Education

  • High School or equivalent

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years: Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in plastics injection molding as a competent operator/inspector.
  • Experience supervising others.

  • Occasionally required to work on different shifts.
  • Regularly uses hands and fingers to operate objects, tools or controls. Frequently required to stand, talk and hear for long periods of time.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities may be needed by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
