The Housekeeping/Laundry Staff provide the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping/laundry department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner and that an adequate supply of laundry/linen is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents.
- Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
- Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc. (NOTE: Ensure that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performing such duties.)
- Perform isolation cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection control procedures.
- Assist in maintaining material safety data sheets (MSDSs) for hazardous chemicals in the laundry department.
- Ensure that containers of hazardous chemicals in the department are properly labeled and stored. Follow established policies governing the use of labels and MSDSs
- Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor. Ensure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing laundry procedures.
- Other requirements that may become necessary/appropriate to assure that our laundry department is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required)
- Minimum 3 to 6 months of experience in housekeeping or laundry services, preferably in a skilled nursing facility (SNF), rehabilitation center, or long-term care setting
- Basic understanding of cleaning and sanitation protocols, infection control procedures, and safety regulations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment
